The 1969 Camaro was the year the most dramatic changes to the first generation Camaro, it had upgraded body paneling and various performance enhancements. The over-all stance of the vehicle was now lower and wider. Other changes were to the front grille, tail lights, hood and instrument panel.
The 1969 Camaro was available in many options, a Sport Coupe, a Super Sport, or the awesome tire smoking Z/28. Also the Rally Sport option with the hidden headlights, special stripes, wheels, bucket seats, carpeting, plus others could be added as a separate package to any of the above models. The Sport Coupe was now longer and wider and now had bucket seats, carpeting, and Astro Ventilation System.
The 1969 Z/28 model was for the road racing fans. It had true dual exhausts, special h/d suspension, heavy duty radiator, quick ratio steering, plus 15″×7″ rally wheels.
The SS option was had big power and special 3 speed transmission, sport striping, heavy insulated under the hood.
Also In 1969, there was available COPO orders for the Camaro. Order #9560, #9561 and #9560which had one big difference from the rest. The engine was now an all-aluminum weight saving version which is the ZL1. There were different variations of the 427ci V8 engine, pushing power up to 425 hp level. One of the COPO numbers was the awesome Yenko Camaro, designed by Don Yenko of Yenko Chevrolet, in which he install the L-72s on the assembly line in a limited number of 69 Camaros now known as the Yenko Camaro.
