2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Review and Specs

The 2013 Shelby Mustang GT500 is the last Shelby Mustang Carroll Shelby had a hand in building and believe you me, this Shelby Mustang holds true to the legacy of the
legendary racer and auto designer. The 2013 Shelby GT500 is one bad Mustang that packs more power than any sane individual would ever need and simply demands your respect!

The sheer muscle contained in the engine bay is un-godly. The Shelby sports a 5.8-liter V8 supercharged engine, that puts out a massive dose of horsepower. The SAE has rated the engine at producing 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque and a 36 percent bump to the inter-cooler heat exchanger’s capacity. which by the way officially makes this Shelby the world’s most powerful production V8. The Shelby now has a very impressive 395 lb-ft that is available just off idle at 1,000rpm, which makes the car an ideal burnout machine, if that’s your thing!

The GT500 achieves 60 mph in approximately 3.5 seconds and the quarter mile mark passes in 11.6 seconds at 125.7 mph, and this Shelby Mustang will do a legit 200 mph when pushed to the max. To slow this beast down it receives big 15-inch front discs and 12-inch rear discs with six-piston Brembo calipers which stop this beast from 60 mph in about 102 feet. Part of the cars stopping equation are the wheels and tires  which the Shelby GT500 offers two brand new sets of forged-aluminum wheels, now including a unique wheel for cars with the optional packages. The front 19-inch and the rear 20-inch wheels are coupled with Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car G2 tires.

Shifting the Shelby is handled exclusively by a six-speed manual transmission, which also has increased torque and rpm capacity due to its dual-clutch design. The Shelby also has new down-force-generating front grille, a new and more aggressive front splitter, a new quad exhaust system, a defeatable launch control system and a new optional SVT Performance Package featuring Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers and Torsen limited-slip differential. Additional Track Package features are an external engine oil cooler, rear differential oil cooler and transmission oil cooler and it also has revised gearing to better distribute the uprated power to the ground.
